Author Guidelines

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSIONS

Revista Coletivo Cine-Forum – Journal of the College of Humanities

1. MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION

Submissions must be made exclusively through the journal’s electronic system after registration on the portal. It is mandatory to complete all authorship details, including:

  • ORCID (required for all authors and co-authors);
  • Lattes URL (optional);
  • Current institutional affiliation (required);
  • Brief biography (maximum 6 lines per author).

The fields for keywordsabstract (in Portuguese and a second language), and bibliographic references must be filled in accordance with the journal’s guidelines. The submitted file must not contain any author identification in the text body or metadata (e.g., Word properties).

2. FORMATTING GUIDELINES

The journal follows these standards:

  • Texts in Portuguese: ABNT standards (mandatory).
  • Texts in English or Spanish: ABNT or APA standards (optional).

WORK FORMATTING

3. ORIGINAL ARTICLES

  • Length: 12–20 pages (A4 format, 3 cm margins).
  • Structure:
    • Abstract (250–350 words, single spacing, Times New Roman 11, justified);
    • Keywords (3–5 terms, initial capitals, separated by periods);
    • Second-language version (title, abstract, and keywords in English or Spanish).
  • Text formatting:
    • Times New Roman 12, 1.5 line spacing, 1.25 cm paragraph indent;
    • Long quotations (>3 lines): font size 11, 4 cm indent, single spacing;
    • References: Minimum 8, maximum 18 (exceptions evaluated by the committee).

3.2 ESSAYS

  • Length: 6–8 pages (excluding references).
  • Basic structure: Introduction, argumentation, conclusion, and references.

3.3 INTERVIEWS

  • Length: Maximum 10 pages.
  • Requirements:
    • Contextual introduction (1 page);
    • Full identification of interviewees and interviewer(s) (qualifications, affiliation, email);
    • Signed authorization statement (attached as PDF).

3.4 REVIEWS

  • Subjects: Books, audiovisual works (films, documentaries, series, etc.);
  • Length: 3–7 pages;
  • Original title + full reference of the reviewed work.

3.5 TRANSLATIONS

  • Required documentation:
    • Original text + translation;
    • Authorization from copyright holder or proof of public domain.

TARGET AUDIENCE & ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The journal is aimed at Humanities researchers (undergraduate, graduate, and faculty). Submissions are accepted from:

  • PhDs and master’s degree holders;
  • Undergraduates and graduates, in co-authorship with master’s or PhD holders (exceptional cases may be considered for standalone submissions if rigorous and scientifically sound);
  • Essays: Exclusively for PhD candidates and PhD holders.

ETHICS

  • Originality: Texts published in conference proceedings must be revised and declared in the "Comments to the Editor" field.
  • Plagiarism: Submissions are screened via CopySpider and Plagium. Cases of plagiarism or self-plagiarism will result in immediate rejection, following COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines. For more information: http://publicationethics.org/resources/code-conduct.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

Scientific Journal of the College of Humanities

1. Basic Requirements

Submitted works must comply with the following guidelines:

  • Accepted formats: Microsoft Word (.docx), OpenOffice (.odt), or RTF documents.
  • References: Include URLs whenever available.
  • Originality: Texts must be unpublished and aligned with the journal's thematic scope.
  • Works previously presented at scientific events may be submitted, provided they are properly indicated in the "Comments to the Editor" field.
  • Manuscripts under review by other journals will not be accepted, regardless of language.

2. Accepted Languages

Submissions in Portuguese, Spanish, or English will be considered for evaluation.

3. Author Responsibilities

Authors must:

  • Declare potential conflicts of interest (personal, commercial, political, academic, or financial) and how they were resolved;
  • Specify all financial support or relevant institutional affiliations related to the research;
  • Ensure the originality of the content, refraining from any form of plagiarism or self-plagiarism.

4. Copyright and License

  • Authors retain copyright of published works;
  • The journal holds the right of first publication, under a Creative Commons CC BY-NC 4.0 license (Attribution-NonCommercial).

5. Author Profile

  • It is recommended that at least one author holds a master's or doctoral degree;
  • Submissions from undergraduate and graduate students will be evaluated upon proof of scientific rigor;
  • Selection prioritizes academic excellence, regardless of academic degree.

6. Identification and Anonymity

Required:

  • Complete registration in the system (ORCID, institutional affiliation, brief biography).

Prohibited:

  • Mention of authors or institutions in the text body (to ensure blind peer review).

7. Formatting

Manuscripts must strictly follow:

  • The journal's official template;
  • The journal's ABNT standards;
  • The detailed guidelines in the "Submissions" section.
