CULTURE AND COMMUNICATION IN HORKHEIMER:
APPROXIMATIONS AND DISTANCES OF MARX & ENGELS

This research carries out a bibliographical investigation of several works by Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels and Max Horkheimer to explain certain aspects of the development of Critical Theory as a historical-dialectical materialist theoretical approach. With these considerations, the reflections and observations of the three authors on the formation of culture in the material and historical constitution of society are highlighted, as well as the conflicts and contradictions in which cultural productions are inserted. Thus, the scenario is created to discuss how thinkers observe communication, more specifically the media, within the ideological dynamics and class disputes of capitalist society.
